Goulash ( stew)
1 big onion
3 or 4 diced carrots
Mushrooms
Potatoes (if desired )
Diced pork
2 tbs tomato puree
2 tbs flour
1/2 litre dry red wine
1 litre vege stock
Thyme
Bay leaf
Salt and pepper ( i seldom use salt as the vege stock is already salty )
Add oil. Fry the diced pork till brown.
Add onions, carrots potatoes and mushroom.
Add the tomato puree, flour, red wine, vege stock and the herbs.
Cook till meat is tender. If still watery add abit of cornflour to thicken it.
Knödel ( Dumplings )
500g white bread ( preferably 1 day old)
3 eggs
300 ml milk
5 tbs breadcrumbs
Chopped parsley
Mix all together. Form into balls and boil in salt water till they rise for about 20 minutes.
